Youth Leagues at Wellington Baseball Association
Fun, Inclusive Baseball with a Focus on Development
Wellington Baseball Association’s Youth Leagues provide a positive and engaging environment for young players to learn, develop, and enjoy baseball while being part of a team and community.
Our youth competitions are designed to support players as they grow in skill and confidence, offering structured games that balance fun, learning, and friendly competition.
Youth Grades on Offer
WBA offers youth baseball across the following age groups:
12U
14U
16U
Each grade is structured to be age-appropriate, with rules and formats that encourage development, participation, and enjoyment.
What Players Will Develop
Youth League baseball focuses on building both on-field skills and personal growth. Players will develop:
Core baseball skills including hitting, throwing, catching, and fielding
Game awareness and understanding of baseball rules
Teamwork, communication, and sportsmanship
Confidence through regular participation and supportive coaching
While competition is part of the experience, development and enjoyment remain the priority.
A Supportive Environment
WBA Youth Leagues are delivered through community clubs across the region, supported by dedicated coaches, volunteers, and officials. The emphasis is on creating a safe, inclusive, and encouraging environment where players feel supported to improve and have fun.
Parents and caregivers play an important role, helping create positive game-day experiences and supporting players both on and off the field.
Pathways and Progression
Youth Leagues form a key part of Wellington Baseball Association’s player pathway. Players can progress from Tee-Ball into Youth Leagues, and from there into senior baseball or representative opportunities, including Little League pathways.
